Brooklyn-based electro-pop trio Mixel Pixel released their fifth album "Let's Be Friends" on June 3rd through Mental Monkey Records.
Reminiscent of new wave bands such as New Order and Duran Duran, Mixel Pixel creates simple and short songs with a twinge of kitsch.
The lyrics are accompanied by some smooth synthesizer melodies and lovely old school drum machine rhythms.

Bon Voyage are Jason Martin from Starflyer 69 and his wife Julie both hailing from California. They have already put out two records together (self titled "Bon Voyage" in 1998 and "The Right Amount" in 2002).
Their third album "Lies" is a timely and unique vision of pop inspired by bands like Blondie or My Bloody Valentine.
The LP hits record stores this month.

The New York City-based quintet Blonde Acid Cult consists of Sonny (Guitar/Vox), Michael (Vox), Phil (Drums), Dammo (Bass) and Marcus (Percussion). The group debutated during the summer of 2007 playing a few small and invite-only gigs. As we know the word spreads fast throughout downtown Manhattan when there's a cool new band to be discovered and that's why we'll be able to enjoy their next gig on June 25th at Boweries Ballroom, perhaps Manhattans finest venue hosting live music.
They call their sound "Madhattan", inspired by "Madchester", an alternative rock genre that developed in Manchester (England) towards the end of the 80s. Surely, the influence of groups like Stone Rose, Happy Monday or even 808 State is sizable but there's more going on: funky drum breaks, a lot of punk attitude and classic guitar rock elements but first and foremost it's Manhattan's melting pot culture that carved them.

Mathias Modica is one of the two masterminds behind Gomma Records, a German label which releases mostly disco related dance music (read: Headman, Tomboy, WhoMadWho).
Under his moniker Munk he produces some of the funkiest disco music I heard in a while.
Contrary to all those would-be revolutionaries out there trying to invent something new, Modica sticks with the old, but trusted formula of sweaty beats, sexy grooves and vocals that are smooth as butta baby to create his futuristic interpretation of an era of bad perms, chunky platform shoes and white satin suits.
Today he releases his new (and second) album "Cloudbuster on, Gomma Records.
The whole LP sounds pretty analog, which is a compliment, obviously he brought some of his old drum machines and synths out of the closet.
A song that particularly caught my ear was the funky opening track "Live Fast Die Old", interestingly featuring Italy's most talked about actress Asia Argento on vocals.
The Rapture and Busy P from Ed Banger teamed together to deliver a top notch state of the art remix.
