Division Kent is a Swiss electro rock duo named after a street corner in NYC where most of their songs allegedly came into being.
The duo consists of songstress Andrea B. and ex Swandive member Sky Antinori.
Their sound emits the new wave grooves of bands like New Order or Depeche Mode and the british pop feel of David Bowie.
The bands debut "Monsterproof" was released in 2005, their second album "Gravity" came out in 2007.

Brazilian pioneers of baile funk "Tetine" are releasing their 8th studio album "Let Your X's Be Y's" on Soul Jazz Records.
The duo consists of vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Eliete Mejorado and her partner in crime Bruno Vermer, both hailing from São Paulo.
The brazilian duo moved to London in 2001 and since then promoted the baile funk movement in the UK. They released several compilations and also did a quiet popular radio show called "Slum Dunk" on Londons underground station "ResonanceFM".
Though they stayed true to baile funk and ghettotech, the new album is heavily influenced by synth-pop bands from the early 80's like Joy Division or Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark. Tetine's new sound can be described as a mixture of ghettotech and baile funk flavoured with a raw punky energy.

Stefan Pruett and John O'Keefe are Peachcake, a electro-pop duo hailing from Phoenix, Arizona.
Their sound relies heavily on synthesizers and drum machines, a local newspaper describes them as follows: "Peachcake serves up electronic party music for the indie rock crowd." That's basically the concept of their debut album and I think they really could hit the mark with it. Their lyrics are very jocose and their live shows involve equipment destruction, forming chanting circles with the audience and spontaneous comedy shows.
Their debut "What Year Will You Have the World?" releases November 11. In the meantime you can listen to some of their new songs on PureVolume or download their brand new song "Stop Acting Like You Know More About Internet Cafe Than Me" here on youngbohemians.

Tupiniquin - from the English Oxford dictionary means simply: a Brazilian.
"Made in São Paulo" his debut album (out now!) references a diverse array of sounds. There's rock, afro-samba, tropicalia and bossa-beats - just like in the city of São Paulo itself.
Tupiniquin combines the traditional "Musica Popular Brasileira" with international pop song structures.
All the songs on the album are written, produced and arranged by Tupiniquin himself.

40 Cal, of Harlem hip-hop juggernauts The Diplomats just released his debut album "Mooga" (slang for 'money') on Gold Dust Records.
40 Cal earned some recognition in NYC's hyper-competitive battle and mixtape circuit before hooking up with one of the most influential crews in rap music.
Now he's ready to grab some of the spotlight for himself, his debut "Mooga" is an album built for repeated listens. Over the stadium sized beats The Diplomats are known for, 40 as well as Dipset affiliates Duke Da God and JR Writer show that it’s possible to construct complete songs without sacrificing the clever couplets and over the top swagger that make rap music so much fun. From blown out jeep beats to club bangers to reflective meditations on responsibility, "Mooga" is the work of an artist on the come-up. Expect big things from one of rap music’s new stars.

This band exemplifies how the Brooklyn music scene works: a singer from small-town Minnesota meets a guitar player from Iowa. The Williamsburg restaurant where the singer works is owned by a former punk drummer, who coincidentally knows a bass player from Canada. When joined by a calssically trained, private piano teacher, the Hype Of The States were completed. The members are Jezrael (Vocal, Guitar), Austin Raukus (Guitar), Kristina B. Nameless (Bass), Sandelicious (Drums) and Mike Weiser (Keys).
The Brooklyn based quintet released their debut EP "Some Like It H.O.T.S.", a collection of high-quality pop rock songs with an edge.
I'd describe their sound simply as: Really catchy and plain cool!
You should definitely give them a listen!
